Payas Jain claims team gold in Table Tennis World Cadet Challenge

Indian paddler Payas Jain has bagged the team gold medal in the ITTF World Cadet Challenge table tennis tournament in Poland. Jain won the title by teaming up with South Korea's Seongil Jang and Sora Matsushima of Japan in the cadet event which was played in Wladyslawowo, Poland.

There was some good news for Indian table tennis fans as Payas Jain went to clinch the gold medal at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF)’s World Cadet Challenge tournament which was held in Poland. The Indian paddler teamed up with Seongil Jang from South Korea and Japan’s Sora Matsushima and represented Team Asia that won the title.

The trio won the final 3-0 with the South Korean getting them off to a dream start with a win over  Yong Izaac Quek of Singapore. Jang won the first game 3-1 and Matsushima also did the same against Romania’s Lulian Chirita with the same scoreline of 3-1.

Playing without any pressure, the Indian paddler won his match against Daniel Berzosa of Spain by 3-1 to win the medal for the Asian team in the cadet event. Earlier in the tournament, the Asians had an easy 3-0 win against Team Europe. The European team comprised of Darius Movileanu of Romania, Louis Laffinuer of Belgium and Simon Belik of Czech Republic.

Asia also won the bronze medal in the girls’ team event with Indian paddler Yashaswani Ghorpade leading them.
