Sania Mirza and Barbara Strycova crashed out of the Qatar Total Open 2017 after they lost their semifinal in Doha last evening. The Indo-Czech duo suffered a 3-6, 6-1, 8-10 loss to the fourth-seeded pair of Abigail Spears and Katarina Srebotnik in a closely contested match.

Indian tennis superstar Sania Mirza and her partner from the Czech Republic, Barbara Strycova were sent packing from the semifinals of the Qatar Total Open in Doha.

Mirza and Strycova played a close game but failed to notch up a victory in a tight match against fourth seeds American Abigail Spears and Slovenia's Katarina Srebotnik in a match that lasted an hour and ten minutes.

They lost the first set 3-6, but the Indi-Czech pair came back strongly in the second set, winning it 6-1 to take the match to a decider. In the match tie-breaker though, they lost 8-10 to Spears and Srebotnik.

The pair have not had a good start to the season and were knocked out of the Australian open in the third round, where they lost to the unseeded Japanese pair of Eri Hozumo and Miyu Kato.
