Wimbledon 2017 | Venus Williams enters final; Bopanna-Dabrowski crash out

Venus Williams moved into the final of the 2017 Wimbledon after she ended the hopes of Johana Konta in the womenâs semifinal match with a 6-4, 6-2 win on Centre Court. Meanwhile, Rohan Bopanna and his Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski crashed out of the mixed doubles event in the quarterfinals.
The 37-year-old Williams reached her ninth Wimbledon final with a 6-4, 6-2 win over sixth seed
"I've played a lot of finals here. It's been a blessing. I couldn't ask for more, but I'll ask for a little more! One more would be amazing," Venus said as reported by AFP.
"I thought the crowd were so fair. Jo gave it her all. It's a lot of pressure. I think my experience was important.
"I just tried to get one point after another and wow it was done. I'm so happy."
Williams will face Garbine Muguruza in the final which will be played on Saturday. 14th seeded Muguruza managed to reach her second Wimbledon final with a 6-1, 6-1 win over unseeded Magdalena Rybarikova.
"I played very well for sure. Today I stepped on court super confident and everything went well," the 23-year-old said.
"I'm playing well. I want to keep it up for my last match and hopefully it goes well."
In the quarter-final clash of the mixed doubles competition, the 10th seeded pair of Bopanna-Dabrowski were defeated 7-6, 4-6, 5-7 by the unseeded duo of Henri Kontinen and Heather Watson. In the semi-final, Kontinen and Watson will face the challenge of second seeds Bruno Soares and Russian Elina Vesnina.
The Wimbledon will today host the gentlemen's semifinals between Roger Federer, who is aiming for a record 19th Grandslam title and Tomas Berdych. The other semifinal will see Marin Cilic pair off against Sam Querrey.
