Serena Williams responded to former American tennis player John McEnroe's remarks of ranking her 700th amongst male tennis players and demanded respect from the seven-time Grand Slam winner. The 23-time Grand Slam champion also suggested that McEnroe's remarks were baseless and devoid of facts.

John McEnroe, aged 58, had suggested that he would rank Serena Williams 700th if she ever competed with men quoting "Well because if she was in, if she played the men's circuit she'd be like 700 in the world,"

"If she had to just play the circuit — the men's circuit — that would be an entirely different story." he added.

The American had also claimed that he could defeat the World No. 1 women's tennis player now that she is pregnant. However, these comments did not go down well with Williams who responded to the 58-year old via a series of tweets.

"Dear John, I adore and respect you but please please keep me out of your statements that are not factually based," she wrote.

Serena holds the record of winning the most Grand Slam titles in the open era that includes seven Australian Open and Wimbledon titles along with six US Open and three French Open titles. The 35-year old is one title away from breaking Margaret Court's all-time Slam singles title record.

McEnroe on the other hand, has won four US Open titles and three Wimbledon singles events.
