Roger Federer is known for his ability to send the crowd to a tizzy through his inimitable style, but, on Tuesday, the Rod Laver Arena crowd saw the funny side of the Swiss Maestro. When a baby suddenly started crying in the arena, Federer passed on a cheeky comment stating, “It’s is not mine”.

Federer continued his longest winning streak in the first round of Grand Slam events and Slovenian Aljaz Bedene suffered the wrath in the Round of 128 of the Australian Open. World No. 2 Federer didn’t have to make too much of fuss in the match and just took one hour and 39 minutes to register a 6-3 6-4 6-3 win in his tournament opener of the season’s first Grand Slam event. While the Swiss was completely dominating the game, not giving any chances to the Slovenian, the fans suddenly got to see the funny side of the 19-time Grand Slam champion and it was even sufficient to bring a smile on his opponent’s face.

The incident occurred when Bedene was serving in the third game of the third set with Federer leading it 40-30. Bedene’s first serve resulted in a fault call from the linesman and with Bedene trying to serve to stay in the set/match, a baby put him off by crying. That reverberated all around the quiet Rod Laver Arena which made Bedene stop his service motion and smile while the crowd, unsurprisingly, burst out laughing.

As the laughter began to die down, Federer decided to pass a comment that was sure to exact another reaction from the crowd. In true Federer fashion, the Swiss instantly broke his silence and lightened the mood by saying, “It’s not mine.”

However, this was not the first time when fans were able to disrupt the rhythm of the tennis stars. Last year, Stan Wawrinka showed his jocular side during his Australian Open match against Andreas Seppi by telling a fan that Roger Federer was playing on the other court when he shouted ‘Go Roger’ during his match. Federer was then playing Kei Nishikori in the Rod Laver Arena at the same time.
