Indian tennis ace Rohan Bopanna was forced to retire along with French partner Edouard Roger-Vasselin in their round of 32 match against England’s Joe Salisbury and Danish player Freddie Nielsen. The 12th seeded pair were trailing 4-6, 6-7(3), 2-1 in the match in on court seven.

38-year old Indian tennis ace Rohan Bopanna might not be in peak physical shape like he used to be before, but he certainly had the determination in him to win, that was during last year’s French Open where he partnered Canada's Gabriela Dabrowski and won the Grand Slam beating pair of Anna-Lena Grönefeld and Robert Farah in the final. This was Bopanna's first and only grand slam title making him the fourth Indian player to win a Grand Slam title.

However, luck wasn’t on the Indian’s side this time around as Bopanna along with French partner Edouard Roger-Vasselin had no other option but to retire in the second round of Wimbledon. The 12the seeded duo were trailing British player Joe Salisbury and Danish ace Freddie Nielsen by a score of  4-6, 6-7(3), 2-1 on court seven.

The pair of Bopanna and Roger-Vasselin, who defeated the all-Australian pair of Alex de Minaur and John Millman 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 in an hour and 29 minutes, had a dominating start to their Wimbledon campaign before they crashed out in the second round.
