Rohan Bopanna and E. Roger-Vasselin suffered a straight sets defeat in the men’s doubles quarter final clash in the French Open to put an end to their campaign. Their match against Nikola Mektic and Alexander Peya lasted for one hour and 32 minutes and Bopanna-Vasselin went down 6-7, 2-6.

Bopanna and Roger-Vasselin, for the second time this year, have been knocked out of a major tournament after having lost in the second round of the Australian Open following a straight-sets loss at Roland Garros on Tuesday.

The 13th seeded Indo-French combination went down 6-7, 2-6 to eighth seeds Nikola Mektic of Croatia and Austria's Alexander Peya in an hour and 32 minutes.

Mektic and Peya will now play their semi-final against the winners of the last-eight clash between Nicolás Jarry of Chile and Maximo Gonzalez of Argentina and the sixth seeded French pair of Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut.

Last year, Rohan Bopanna won his first major Grand Slam title at the French Open in the mixed doubles category and became the fourth Indian to win a major Grand Slam.
