Indian tennis ace Ramakumar Ramanathan, along with his Spanish partner Enrique López Pérez, booked the semifinal berth of the Marbella Challengers men’s doubles encounter in Spain. In the quarterfinal encounter, they defeated the duo of Andre Begemann and Lukáš Rosol 7-6, 6-7, 10-8.

Ramanathan has shown a tremendous form in the ongoing Marbella Challengers where he beat his Indian counterpart Sumit Nagal to reach the quarterfinals in the singles. The Indian tennis player continued his brilliant performance in the doubles event as well as he entered the semifinal round of the tournament.

It was not an easy match for the Indian and his partners as they faced German and the Czech Republic duo in the quarter-finals. After the first six games, the score was 3-all and both pair successfully saved their serves which forced the first set to enter the tiebreaker with the score being 6-6. But, after that, Ramanathan and Perez lose their serve only once and wrapped the first set on a winning note.

In the opening game of the second set, Ramanathan and Perez lost their serve and their opponent found themselves with a lead of 2-0. Begemann and Rosol also lost their serve in the fourth game which gave a chance to their opponent to equalise the score at 2-all. Both the pair fought hard but lost one more serves each before the game reached 6-6. The second set was exactly as the first set as it also entered into the tie-breaker but this time the result was different as Ramanathan and Perez failed to win it and the match entered the third set for the eventual result.

The win in second set motivated Begemann and Rosol as they soon got a lead of 5-1 in the third. In the next two games the Indo-Spaniard pair won points but soon the score was 7-3 in the favor of the German and Czech Republic pair. From that point, however, Ramanathan and Perez showed a terrific comeback in the match as the bagged the next five points and when the score was 8-all, they controlled their nerves brilliantly to win the set 10-8 and thus entered the semi-final of the tournament.
