Leander Paes and partner Marcus Daniell have made it to the final of the ongoing Challenger Tennis Tournament at Ilkley in England. The Indo-Kiwi men’s doubles pair got the better of the all Indian duo of Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Purav Raja 6-3, 7-6(4) in the doubles semi-finals.

Indian tennis legend Leander Paes continued his dream run at the €137,560 Challenger competition in England with a good performance in the semi-final of the tournament along with his partner from New Zealand Marcus Daniell as they entered the final by beating Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Purav Raja. The all Indian pair was defeated by a margin of 6-3, 7-6(4) in the doubles semi-final clash on Saturday.

The second seed pair of Paes and Daniell will now take on top seeds of the competition – Mexico’s Santiago Gonzalez of Mexico and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan.

In an ITF Men’s Futures tournament in Zimbabwe’s Harare, Indian tennis player SD Prajwal lost the singles semi-finals to top seed and local favourite Takanyi Garanganga. However, the Indian put up a good show along with compatriot Rishi Reddy in the doubles event. The Indian duo clinched the title by beating Canada’s Martin Beran and Joshua Paris from Great Britain 7-6(5), 6-4 in the summit clash. The trophy was the first professional one for both the Indian tennis players.
