Kladno Athletics Meet | Mohammad Anas breaks personal record to qualify for World Championships

Mohammad Anas broke his own national record in the men's 400m event to win the gold medal and consequently qualify for the World Championships alongside Hima Das. India also bagged six gold medals, three silver medals, and one bronze medal in another competition held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The emerging Indian youngster clocked 45.21 seconds in one of the easiest races of his career as he finished just a second ahead of Poland’s silver medalist Omelko Rafal (46.19) on Saturday. In the process, Anas not only qualified for the World Athletics Championships but also broke his previous national record of 45.24 seconds that he had recorded last year. The Worlds would be held in Doha from September 27 to October 6.

In the event of women's 400m, V K Vismaya created her new personal best record of 52.54 seconds to win the race while compatriot Saritaben Gayakwad came third clocking 53.37.

In the XXII International Memorial Competition held in Kyrgyzstan, the Indian athletes put up a brilliant show winning six gold, three silver, and one bronze medal with the highlight being national record holder M Sreeshankar clinching the yellow metal with a creditable 7.97m.

The other gold winners are : Archana in 100m (11.74 sec), Harsh Kumar in 400m (46.76 sec), Lili Das in 1500m (4:19.05), Sahil Silwal in javeline throw (78.50m), women's 4x100 relay (45.81 sec).

Rahul (1500m; 3:50.69), Jisna Mathew (400m, 53.76) and Gajanand Mistry (400m, 47.23) won silver medals while Rohit Yadav bagged a bronze in javeline throw (73.33m).
