The Badminton Association of India has named Tamil Nadu’s Sathish Kumar as the one heading the boy singles team while Gujarat’s Tasnim Mir would be heading the girl’s singles challenge in the BWF World Junior Championship. The tournament would be held in Kazan from September 30 to October 13.

Sathish Kumar has amassed a whopping 925 points from the All India Junior Ranking tournaments, which were held in Panchkula and Bangalore in August, while Tasnim Mir garnered 813 points from the two ranking tournaments.

Sathish would be joined by Nagpur’s Rohan Gurbani, Manipur’s Maisnam Meiraba and Pranav Rao Gandham of Telengana in the boys’ singles. Tasnim, on the other hand, would be joined by Uttarakhand’s Aditi Bhatt and Unnati Bisht, and Karnataka’s Trisha Hegde.

The girl’s doubles would be led by Aditi Bhatt and Goa’s Tanisha Crasto, who were rightly rewarded after winning back-to-back victories in the two ranking tournaments where they earned a total of 1000 points. The boys’ doubles category will have Manipur’s Manjit Singh Khwairakpam and Dingku Singh Konthoujam being their biggest hopes after they topped the table with 852 points from two tournaments.

Crasto would also be leading the mixed doubles team with Chattisgarh partner Ishaan Bhatnagar after the duo did extremely well in the two ranking tournaments. Crasto and Bhatnagar finished at the top of the ranking table after winning both the ranking tournaments and amassing 1000 points.

The previous BWF World Junior Championship had seen Lakshya Sen bringing India their fifth boys’ singles bronze medal and BAI would hoping they continued their form this edition as well. Junior national coach Sanjay Mishra would be heading the contingent with the training camp starting on September 13 in Bangalore.
