Ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup T20 in Bangladesh next week and the ICC World T20 in India in March, Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni reiterated his team's position as one of the favourites for the T20 tournaments by saying that the team has played well in all T20 World Cups apart from one.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Asia Cup T20 next week, Dhoni shared his views of the T20 format and about India’s consistency in the biennial tournament.

"There have been quite a few T20 tournaments where we have done well. We have also reached the finals but we couldn't win it. It's all part and parcel of the game but I feel it's not like we are not playing good cricket. Apart from maybe one T20 World Cup, where we didn't perform too well, other than that we have been quite decent when it comes to T20 format," he said in a video shared by BCCI on Twitter.

India, who were the runners-up in the last edition of the T20 World Cup, are ranked No.1 in the world and claimed back-to-back series wins against Sri Lanka and Australia recently.

Dhoni also added that the T20 format gives players more opportunity to express themselves with the game only lasting 20 overs.

“It's one format where you can be expressive. At the same time, there is less pressure on the players to some extent. They can go out there, be expressive on the field, play a few deliveries then go for the big shots," Dhoni added.

The qualifying event for the Asia Cup T20 will start on February 19 with Afghanistan, UAE, Hong Kong and Oman fighting it out for a place in the main round, which will start on February 24 with India taking on hosts Bangladesh.
