Ruchir Modi, son of former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi, will contest for the post of president in the Rajasthan Cricket Association elections scheduled to be held on April 26. CP Joshi, a former RCA president and central minister in the UPA government, is likely to compete for the post.

Ruchir, who graduated from Regents University, London, is director of the KK Modi Groupā€™s flagship tobacco business Godfrey Phillips India Ltd, alongside also holding company Modi Enterprises, networking marketing arm Modicare and restaurant business Peyotito in London.

The 21-year-old is currently the president of the Alwar District Cricket Association.Ā Last month, Ruchir met members and office-bearers of RCA, which is under BCCI suspension as a punishment for electing the banned Lalit Modi as its president.

ā€œThey havenā€™t met or spoken to Lalit Modi, so they needed someone to hear them out and understand their concerns. So, I went to hear them out and present my own vision,ā€ Modi Jr told Livemint.

Ruchir will face stiff competition from Joshi, who will clarify his participation in the next 3-4 days after being sanguine about his numbers. The Congress leader had also filed his nomination for the RCB president post last time but had to withdraw because his supporters were poached by Modi.
