Ramachandra Guha believes the Kohli-Kumble dispute is similar to the 1952 Mankad-Nayudu rift

Ramachandra Guha compared the rift between former India coach Anil Kumble and skipper Virat Kohli to what had happened between former all-rounder Vinoo Mankad and chief selector CK Nayudu in 1952. Guha has also claimed that players now enjoy more power than the administrators.
Former COA member Guha attended an event which was organized to celebrate the 84th anniversary of the first Test on Indian soil between the Col CK Nayudu-led Indian team and the Douglas Jardine-captained England side held from December 15 to 18, 1933 at the Bombay Gymkhana. During the event, he recalled the dispute which took place between former skipper Mankad and chief selector Nayudu.Â

Mankad didn’t feature in the first Test against England at Leeds where India lost by seven wickets. But he made a fantastic comeback to the side durng the second Test by scoring 72 and 184 in the first and second innings respectively, and claiming a five-wicket haul, but India still lost the Test by eight wickets.
It was not the only incident where a clash of ego made headlines as earlier this year, the cricket circuit came to know about the dispute between Kohli and Kumble. There was much hue and cry when Kumble stepped down from the head coach position and the hunt for the post was ended with the appointment of Ravi Shastri. During the whole saga, reports came out in media that the relationship between Kumble and the team was not good.
Guha not only compared the Kohli-Kumble incident with the Mankad Nayudu clash but also opined that in present time players are enjoying more power in comparison
"The relationship between Nayudu and Vinoo Mankad in 1951-52 was akin to Kumble and Kohli. In 1952, the administrators, selectors, and managers had the upper hand over the players,
