The Sri Lankan pacer Isuru Udana’s sportsmanship uplifted the spirit of cricket in Paarl Rock’s MSL game against Nelson Mandela Bay Giants when he decided not to run the injured batsman Marco Marias out. However, the incident left non-striker Marco Marias in shock given the timing of it.

Isuru Udana displayed the true spirit of the game when he could have opted to win the game for Paarl Rocks in their game against Nelson Mandela Bay Giants. The left-arm pacer could have run Marco Marias out after Heino Kuhn hit the ball straight to the bowler. The incident occurred in the 19th over of the innings, with Heino Kuhn unbeaten on 56, as Giants needed 24 runs from right balls.

Kuhn stroke it straight to the bowler Udana, who saw Marias struggling with an injury and was way out of the crease and did not run him out. He kept the ball himself, without attempting the run-out and further would have been criticised for the same if his side did not get across the line.

Following the incident, the game went close as Marias struck a six in the 20th over to bring the Giants close to a victory. With 12 needed, they could not get over the line as Paarl Rocks got to a well-deserved victory.
