No matter how professional one is in sports, the temptation to pull off theatrics is so embedded in an individual today that one almost always succumbs to it. Robbie Frylinck had a similar situation and his stunt went horribly wrong, leaving his teammates embarrassed and infuriated on field.

Not having the best of start to their Bangladesh Premier League season, winning just four of their eight opening matches, the Rajshahi Kings needed a much-needed win on Wednesday when they took on Chittagong Vikings. However, despite opener Laurie Evans sticking to the cause, the quick wickets of Soumya Sarkar and Marshall Ayub saw the Kings going down a familiar, upsetting road yet again.

The quick breakthrough, however, seemed to make Vikings complacent in their approach as was evident by the body language of South African bowler Frylinck. After taking the all-important wicket of Sarkar in the third over of the match, the well-built bowler looked very confident that eventually led to a massive embarrassment for him.

The incident happened at the fifth over when Frylinck was bowling to Netherland’s Ryan ten Doeschate. Looking to form a partnership with a settled Evans, Doeschate was taking it slow and decided to go for a quick single following a defence. It sure looked risky as Frylinck had the ball coming to him at the end of his run-up, handing him a glorious chance at a run-out.

However, in the process, Frylinck decided to go for a no-look throw that saw the ball bouncing way before the stumps, changing direction and going to the ropes. Not only did a single was allowed easily, but the ball was seen chasing to the boundary while Frylinck’s teammates stood around the pitch befuddled. Had the Vikings not won the match, Frylinck would have had some unanswerable questions throw at him.
