Former England opener Marcus Trescothick is all set to join the English coaching camp for the first two Ashes Test matches. Trescothick, who had played 391 First-class matches for Somerset in a career which spanned 26 years, announced his retirement earlier this month, at the age of 43.

Former England opener and 2005 Ashes winner Marcus Trescothick will join the English coaching camp ahead of the first two Ashes Tests. Trescothick is set to work with the English batsmen ahead of both the Edgbaston and Lord's Test matches and is also expected to train with the players ahead of both the Tests.

England also sought the help of former batsman Jonathan Trott to help the batting department, ahead of their first Test against Ireland. With Graham Thorpe, England's lead batting coach, suffering from a sore shoulder, the ECB have decided to seek the help of both Trott and Trescothick ahead of the all-important Ashes series.

The ECB is yet to find a successor for Mark Ramprakash, who left his role a couple of months ago. The move does not also necessarily mean that the ECB is looking to hand Trescothick a full-time role, as the ECB is looking at it as a mere stop-gap fix to ease the burden on Graham Thorpe.

Trescothick represented England in 76 Tests from 2000 to 2006, scoring 14 hundreds and was also a part of the 2005 English team which won the Ashes.
