There are few sights in World Cricket better than seeing Yuvraj Singh showcase his vintage self with the bat. On Saturday, in GT20 Canada, he did exactly that, as he took all his fans on a nostalgia trip, smacking Pakistani spinner Shadab Khan all over the park to leave him absolutely dumbfounded.

When it was announced that Yuvraj Singh would be captaining the Toronto Nationals in the 2019 edition of the Global T20 League in Canada, all his fans erupted in joy, and the GT20 earned itself a few million more viewers to tune into the matches, just to watch Yuvraj Singh bat. However, he had a very inauspicious start to the tournament, as he struggled his way to a 27-ball 14 against Vancouver Knights, before eventually walking off to a delivery in which he was actually not out in the first place.

But they say form is temporary and class is permanent, and on Saturday, Yuvi proved exactly that. Chasing a steep target of 192, Yuvi walked into bat with his side reeling at 29/2, under immense pressure. But he sent a strong message to the opposition and proved that he meant business from the word go, as he smacked his first ball to the boundary.

Yuvi showed glimpses of getting back to his best throughout the innings, but it was the ninth over of the innings where he truly proved why he is such a crowd-puller and highly regarded by the cricketing fraternity.

On the fourth ball of the ninth over, Pakistani leg-spinner Shadab Khan delivered a low full-toss, and Yuvraj got underneath the ball and smacked it over wide long-on for a six, almost a bottom hand jab of sorts, to leave the bowler Shadab lost for words. On the very next delivery, Shadab straightened his line and landed the ball near leg stump, and Yuvi swept the ball past fine-leg with utter disdain and the ball raced to the boundary in no time.

The brilliance from Yuvraj in back-to-back deliveries left Shadab stunned, and all he could do was laugh it off and acknowledge the greatness of the Indian legend. Yuvraj hit Ben Cutting for a six in the very next over before getting out after a 21-ball 35, but his efforts helped his team get over the line, as they beat the Edmonton Royals by two wickets with an over to spare.
