Murali Vijay has suffered an ankle injury which ruled him out of Tamil Nadu's super league campaign to be played in Surat from November 21. The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, in a press release, revealed that left-arm spinner M. Siddharth would replace the former Indian opener in the squad.

Although he hasn't taken the tournament by storm, Murali Vijay has so far been a fulcrum in Tamil Nadu batting unit. With 284 runs in eight matches with one century in Vijay Hazare Trophy and 127 runs in six matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20s, Vijay has done well to give the team early impetus. In that regard, it came as a setback for the South Indian team that Vijay has been ruled out with an ankle injury.

"Vijay will now be replaced by left-arm spinner M. Siddharth in the squad. Siddharth was picked as it was felt there were enough batsmen in the squad and as a back-up spinner," Tamil Nadu chief selector M. Senthilnathan said in a press release.

Tamil Nadu have been clubbed with Karnataka, Punjab, Mumbai, and Jharkhand in Group B of the Super League. The five teams will play each other in a round-robin format and the top team from each group will enter the final.
