ECB appoint Mo Bobat as team's Performance Director

The England Cricket Board (ECB) announced the appointment of Mo Bobat as England’s new Performance Director on Wednesday. Bobat, who was previously working as a Player Identification Lead, has been handed over the role after the departure of David Parsons earlier this year, in July.

Bobat first began to work with the ECB in 2011 and is also now set to complete his Masters in Sports Directorship. Having been appointed the Player’s Identification Lead in 2016, Bobat has done some really impressive work by scouting young prodigies who might soon go on to represent the English cricket team.

Ashley Giles, who is the Managing Director of England’s Men’s cricket, has credited the ability of Bobat to single out players of high potential and believes that Bobat is the right man for the job. He also believes that Bobat's knowledge and experience will come in handy in bridging the gap between County cricket and international cricket, thereby producing inspiring players to play for England.

"I am delighted and honoured to be appointed Performance Director, at what is an exciting time for English cricket," Bobat told Cricbuzz post his appointment.

"I am looking forward to working closely with both Chris Silverwood and Ed Smith, and in doing so, supporting the performance needs of our England teams and moving us closer to achieving our aim of being the most respected team in the world," he further added.

Bobat understands the importance of County cricket as a potential talent pool for recruiting promising players for England. He believes that competitive County cricket will provide a nurturing environment for the youngsters and the challenges faced by them will help them grow into becoming potential world class cricketers.

"Developing strong relationships with our counties to enhance the size and quality of our talent pool will be paramount. I aim to ensure that our highest potential players receive individualised support and international-specific experiences," he signed off.
