Legendary Cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, and Muttiah Muralitharan are set to feature in a tournament called the 'Road Safety World Series' which focuses on creating awareness for road safety. The trio will also be joined by the likes of Jack Kallis, Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Brett Lee.

The tournament consists of 110 players, all of whom have retired and like other tournaments like the IPL and Big Bash, will also be franchise-based. India Legends, Australia Legends, South Africa Legends, Sri Lanka Legends and West Indies Legends are the teams that will participate in the first season and only the teams of Test-playing nations are permitted to play.

According to a report by ESPNCricinfo, the first season of the tournament will be played from February 2 to February 16 in Mumbai.

Professional Management Group and the Road Safety Cell of the Maharashtra government are the organizers that will be promoting this tournament and are thinking and planning of hosting the event in different areas across India for at least the next ten years.

The player wages and contracts will be arranged by their respective franchises, but the money raised from the tournament will be used by the Road Safety Cell to promote road safety since India is one of the countries with the highest death rates in road accidents.

With Sachin last appearing on a cricket field for MCC against World XI in 2014 and in All Stars T20 games in 2015 in the United States, the tournament is set to attract a lot of viewers who would be keen to get a glimpse of the Master Blaster.
