Pakistan bowling coach Waqar Younis is all set to launch a pace camp for 15 bowlers that he has shortlisted ahead of their tour to Australia. Huge questions have been raised at the support staff and team management after Pakistan's unimpressive bowling performance against Sri Lanka at home.

After a disappointing performance in the T20Is against the Lankan lions at home, bowling coach Waqar Younis is aiming at a fresh start by setting up a special camp for fast bowlers ahead of Pakistan's tour of Australia. With T20 World Cup next year in Australia, time is running out for Pakistan to set up a settled bowling line up. Now under a new captain in the form of Babar Azam, Pakistan are willing to move in a new direction. T

“The national selection committee has invited 15 high-performing bowlers from the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and the ongoing National T20 Cup as well as fast bowlers Mohammad Abbas and Shaheen Shah Afridi for the weekend camp,” a statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board said.

The aim of this camp will be to pick wicket-taking bowlers that will provide a sharp edge to the Pakistani pace attack. The fitness of the bowlers will be tested and the selectors will have a better idea while selecting the sides for T20Is and Test series Down Under.

“It will also give the bowlers an opportunity to understand their shortcomings and ways to improve their skills in the upcoming domestic matches,” the board's statement said.

The two-day camp will be monitored closely by Waqar Younis and Test captain Azhar Ali. With Shaheen Afridi returning from injury after missing the Sri Lanka series and Hasan Ali sidelined with injury, places in the pace attack are up for grabs. All eyes will be on pacers like Tabish Khan in this camp. The Pakistan Cricket Board will be hopeful of unearthing some gems from this camp.
