The Indian under 19 football team went down to Moldova by a score of 2-1 in the ongoing Granatkin Memorial Football Tournament in Russia. After the opening goal by Rohit Danu for the Indians, Moldova came back strong with goals from Dan Puscas and Mihail Cioban to win the game by 2-1 goals.

After losing to Russia in the first game, Floyd Pinto had made a couple of changes in the Indian line up for the second match against Moldova. Robin Yadav and Vikram Partap Singh were given a chance to come into the Indian starting XI for the game. India started on an attacking note in the game as Jeakson Singh tried to go for a shot from outside the box but the ball was punched away by the Moldavian custodian.

Rohit Danu put the Indians ahead by one goal in the 31st minute of the match. Givson Singh passed the ball to Ninthoi who eventually found Danu. The striker made no mistake as he put the ball in past the custodian to give India a 1-0 lead in thie game.

After India had the 1-0 lead at the half-time break, Moldova wanted to attack more in the next 45 minutes. They found the equaliser in the 54th minute when Dan Puscas’ shot from outside the box beat the Indian goalie.

Robin Yadav, then, brought down Cojocari inside the box and that prompted the referee to award a penalty kick to Moldova. Captain Gaiu Valeriu kicked it past Prabhsukhan Gill to give Moldova the lead for the first time in the match and they maintained that till the end of the game.
