SAI-STC Cuttack have registered their second consecutive win by beating Bangalore United FC 1-0 in the ongoing Indian Women’s League football tournament. SSB’s women’s team are also alive in the tournament after a 1-0 win over Alakhpura while Panjim Footballers held Rising Students to a draw.

Bangalore United started off against SAI-STC in a positive manner, however, they were not able to have an impact on the scoreline. The Odisha-based team managed to maintain the scoreline at the end of the first half with the scorecard still reading 0-0. Later in the second half, Deepa Nayak converted a penalty which helped SAI to get three points and stay alive in the competition. With this win, SAI have six points and are still hopeful of making it to the semis.

In another game, it was a brilliant performance by Susmita Marandi and Dulal Marandi that helped the SSB women’s football team to register a 1-0 win over Alakhpura. Dulal got the early lead in the game in the first half while captain Susmita’s excellent defence throughout the match helped them to maintain the lead. Susmita was awarded the Player of the Match and with this win, SSB have also a chance of qualifying for the top four.

In another game on Tuesday, Panjim Footballers from Goa managed to hold on to a 1-1 draw against Rising Student Club, Cuttack at the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana.
