Bangalore United FC got the better of Baroda Football Academy as FC Kolhapur City defeated SAI-STC Cuttack by identical margin of 2-0 goals in the Indian Women’s League football tournament in Ludhiana. SSB Women also registered a 2-0 win against Hans Women FC and qualified for semi-final.
Sivakumari Arumugam (36th) and Paromita Sit (86th) scored the two goals for the team from Bengaluru as they secured their first win in this season of the league. Bangalore winger Amsa got the player of the match award and with this victory, BUFC now have four points from four matches in Group II.
In another game, it was Kolhapur City who won comprehensively against SAI-STC Cuttack by 2-0 goals with Kamala Devi (4th) and Renu (33rd) finding the back of the net. Despite the loss, SAI’s Jyoti Kumari was adjudged the Player of the Match for his show in the team’s defence. Kolhapur have now overtaken SAI and have taken the third position on the table with seven points.
Meanwhile, SSB Women FC have qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament as they also handed a 2-0 defeat to their opponents Hans Women FC. For the SSB side, Anibala Devi scored the opening goal in the 30th minute while Sandhya Kachhap doubled the lead in the last minute of the regulation time to book a ticket to the semi-finals in the Indian Women’s League.
