Georginio Wijnaldum has admitted that every win is an important boost for the club as they prepare to end their Premier League title drought. The Reds have started the latest Premier League season well and sit atop the league table with five points separating them and treble winners Manchester City.

Liverpool have started the new Premier League season swimmingly and remain the only side in England yet to either draw or lose a league game. It’s a brilliant run and one that really doesn’t look like it might end until you take into consideration that they face Leicester City in the final game before the international break. The Foxes are one of the few sides to walk away from Anfield over the last few years without a thrashing, even doing relatively well against Liverpool.

And with former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers at the helm, they’ve flourished. Only the Reds and Manchester City have amassed more points than Leicester City since Rodgers took over but Liverpool are unbeaten at home. It’s a run that star Georginio Wijnaldum believes is down to their passionate fan support and he even went on to add that it’s important for the club to go into the break unbeaten.

“I think it’s really important to keep the 100% record start as long as possible. I think every win you can have is an important one, it gives confidence and confidence will stay. It's good for the following games. Not really surprised, I knew we could do it, but if it is really going to happen you always have to wait,” he told Liverpoolfc.com.

“Especially in the beginning of the season, you're not at your best because you need a lot of games to improve and normally you grow during the season. So it's always good if you can collect a lot of points at the moment you're not at your best. I knew before that we could do it, but you always have to see if you're going to do it. “

Wijnaldum and company face Leicester City next and the Foxes are playing some of the best football that they’ve ever played. Fans and critics have even admitted that this side might just be better than their title-winning 11 and Wijnaldum believes that this is an impressive Leicester side. The Dutch midfielder went on to praise the Foxes and admitted that Liverpool needs to be at their best to beat them.

“It's a really impressive start but I think they already showed they are capable of doing what they are doing right now. Since I'm in England, they did quite well. They had a difficult season after they became champions but I think even then they did quite well in the Champions League. They always do good, so I'm not really surprised that they stand where they are right now. I expect that it's going to be a really good, difficult game.

“Until now, the games we played against them since I'm at Liverpool were always difficult. Last season, when we played them at home, even after they went 1-0 down they still stayed in the game, created chances and even scored. We played a draw, so they will come with a lot of confidence here and try to win the game,” concluded the Dutch midfielder.
