Goalkeeper Michel Vorm has told that re-joining Premier League club Tottenham has been like a homecoming. The Dutch shot-stopper, who left Spurs in the summer of 2019 as a free agent, re-signed with the North London club for the rest of the season after Hugo Lloris dislocated his elbow.

Michel Vorm has rejoined Tottenham Hotspur to provide cover for injured captain Hugo Lloris and to help Paulo Gazzaniga adapt as the first-team star. The 35-year-old keeper left Spurs this summer but as a free agent has been able to re-sign outside the transfer window. The BBC has reported that he was extremely happy to help Spurs in times of crisis because coming back to Tottenham was like going home.

"Thank you, it’s good to be back. I’m very pleased, happy to be back. It’s easy in a way – nothing really changes. I know most of the players, the staff obviously and everyone who is working here. I’ve been here for five seasons already so for me, it’s just coming home. Obviously I’m not up to game fitness yet so in that part we need to improve a bit, but I feel good," Vorm told Spurs official website.

Spurs captain and 2018 World cup winner Hugo Lloris suffered dislocated his elbow against Brighton and Hove Albion and it will keep him out of action for the rest of the year. The 32-year old’s absence has seen Paulo Gazzaniga being promoted as the first choice keeper and Vorm, who originally joined Spurs in 2014, is set to act as Gazzaniga’s cover. This should see the Argentine play regularly in the league while Vorm could make his second debut either in the Champions League or the FA Cup.

Spurs have had to undergo the pain of several difficult losses and are trying to improve their current situation despite all their issues with injuries to key stars. Vorm went on to say that the team needs to act collectively and have confidence in each other. The 35-year-old also added that the team is more than capable of pulling things back on track and that should be their aim.

“At the end, we need to do it all together – we need everyone. It’s easy to get into a negative situation but we need to stay positive and do this all together. With the quality we have and with the new signings we made over the summer, I think the squad is stronger than ever. The season is long as well, so don’t forget that there are a lot of points to win. It’s quite tight but a lot of things can happen and we’ve seen, last season in particular, what we’re capable of in different situations. Now is the right time to stand up and do this as a group," the former Dutch international concluded.
