Bayern Munich are going through a spell of crisis at the back as they have an injury plagued squad. The German club see Athletic Bilbao's defender Unai Nunez as a back up option after Lucas Hernandez and Niklas Sule will be out of action for a long time after suffering long term injuries.

With first-team defenders, Niklas Sule and Lucas Hernandez now out for a prolonged period of time on the sidelines after picking injuries, Goal has reported that Bayern Munich are looking to add depth to their squad. Both Sule and Hernandez were injured within days of each other and this has prompted the Bundesliga champions to look for someone good enough to help them through the crisis.

But Goal has reported that Athletic Bilbao's centre back Unai Nunez is a possible option for Bayern after his performances over the last few years. While reports have added that the 22-year-old will cost in excess of €30 million in the January transfer window, Bayern are still keen on making the move. Especially after Sule ruptured his ACL in a Bundesliga clash against FC Augsburg and further assessment revealed that the German will miss the rest of the season.

Hernandez’s injury, on the other hand, in the mid-week clash against Olympiacos has put the former Atletico Madrid star out of action for a few months. Injuries to his key defenders has really put Kovac on the edge and the Bayern boss will be forced to bring new players in January to sort the defensive problem. Reports further add that the reason Bayern Munich are looking at Unai Nunez is because the club believes he can help out even after Sule and others return to full-fitness.
