Ayoze Perez believes that he has to prove himself at Leicester City especially after his mega money move to the King Power. The Spaniard finished last season as one of Newcastle’s best players which prompted Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers to pull the trigger and sign the versatile forward.

Leicester City had an interesting summer window spending close to ÂŁ70 million on both Ayoze Perez and Youri Tielemans before the window closed. While they were not the only moves the club made this summer, they have certainly been the most talked-about moves. One more than the other, with Perez dominating the chat boards across the internet after his move from St James' Park.

The 26-year-old finished last season as one of Newcastle United’s best players, which prompted Brendan Rodgers to trigger his £30 million release clause this summer. However, Perez is yet to make a significant impact for the club, despite starting his first four games at the club. He has looked good in front of goal, but is yet to find the net and has been subject to a lot of criticism.

This has seen the Spaniard open up about his move to Leicester City and even about his preferred position in an exclusive interview with the Athletic.

“It is time for me to prove what I am capable of. Obviously, as a striker, that means to score goals. It is not pressure, but it is a responsibility. I have to prove myself and prove to everyone I am worth the money. I can play in any of those positions. That is good for me because it is going to help me a lot,” Perez said to The Athletic.

"I’ve played in the No 10 role a lot, but I spent last season playing on the right, too, and I felt comfortable. I scored plenty of goals [13 in total, including six in the last five games of the season], so whether on the right or behind the striker, I feel comfortable. I try to get into the box where everything happens, and I have that No 9 feeling to try to guess where the ball will go. That is why I used to be a No 9. I live in the box."
