Gokulam Kerala FC to play four ISL teams in pre-season

In their build-up to the new season, I-League outfit Gokulam Kerala FC have scheduled a series of pre-season friendlies against Indian Super League clubs. The Fernando Valera-coached side is on a high after a historic Durand Cup triumph last month with a win over Mohun Bagan in the summit clash.

The Kerala-based team will play pre-season friendlies against current ISL winners Bengaluru FC, Chennaiyin FC, Jamshedpur FC and Mumbai City FC as per the reports of Goal.com. All of the above matches are likely to be played away and behind closed doors.

Gokulam Kerala FC have been touted as the ‘Giant Killers’ in the I-League and have played competitive football in the past two seasons. The Durand Cup win last month has been their most remarkable achievement so far.

Their new coach Fernando Valera has done a fine job till now and is expected to deliver in the 2019-20 I-League. After narrowly escaping the relegation zone in the previous season, the ‘Malabarians’ have assembled a strong contingent for a shot at the championship in the new season.

Trinidad and Tobago International Marcus Joseph has been playing phenomenal this year having amassed a total of 11 goals en-route to the Durand Cup title. Ugandan forward Henry Kisekka and Brazilian playmaker Bruno Pelissari are also experienced players and are potential match winners.

The 13 edition of I-League kick-starts on November 2.
