Tamil Thalaivas head coach J Uday Kumar has said that the team was carving for this win for a while in the seventh season of the league. Ajith’s 10 raid points and some good show in the defence helped the Chennai team beat Jaipur Pink Panthers by 35-33 in a closely-fought battle on Monday.

Despite having some big names in the team, Tamil Thalaivas were not able to put up a performance that was expected from them in the ongoing season of the PKL. However, on Monday, the team from Chennai got the better of Jaipur Pink Panthers and their coach J Uday Kumar was satisfied with the performance that the team put up on Monday.

“We've been craving this win for a while. It came a little later than we would have liked, but better late than never. The younger players have been training hard for the past few weeks and the results are evident in the past two matches. We still need to sort out the support raider situation, but we are getting there,” Uday Kumar mentioned during the post-match press conference.

The Thalaivas went into the game with many youngsters like they have been doing ever since they got out of the race to the playoffs. V Ajith Kumar was their best raider with 10 points while Sagar got four tackle points to his name. Uday Kumar, however, is of the belief that the defence was tentative on the mat as they lacked confidence.

“Irrespective of whom you have on your roster, when you go that many games without winning, you obviously feel low. The defence was tentative on the mat because of the lack of confidence,” the Tamil Thalaivas coach concluded.

Ranked 12th on the table, the Thalaivas would want to beat Bengal Warriors to rise above Telugu Titans in their last game on Wednesday.
