Junior men's skeet team tops qualifying round at ISSF World Championship

The Indian junior men's skeet team has made it to the next round at the ongoing ISSF World Championship in Changwon, South Korea and will fight for gold after finishing the qualifiers at the top spot. However, India failed to secure a medal on the ninth day of the World Championship.

The junior men's team managed to get a total score of 214 and finished number one ahead of Cyprus. Two more qualifying rounds will be played tomorrow and the Indian boys will fight for the gold in the finals of the event later in the day.

In the individual events, Indian shooters Gurnihal Singh Garcha finished second with a shot of 73 out of 75 while Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Ayush Rudraraju finished 11th and 12th respectively with scores of 71 and 70.

Commonwealth Games gold-medallist Anish Bhanwala, however, failed to make it to the finals of men’s 25m rapid fire pistol event by falling short by three points. In men’s 50m rifle 3 positions junior event, Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar finished at the fourth position and missed out on a medal by a whisker by scoring 431.7 in the finals.

India is at the fourth position in the medal's tally with 20 medals including seven gold.
