Junior Shotgun Cup | Ayush Rudraraju beats compatriot to win gold medal

Ayush Rudraraju got the better of compatriot Gurnihal Singh Garcha in the junior men's skeet in the 11th International Junior Shotgun Cup in Orimattila to win 50-47 and clinch the yellow metal in Finland on Saturday. In women’s category, Manisha Keer won the bronze medal in junior women’s trap.

The Indian colts did exceptionally well to seal the last two berths with scores of 118 each. Apart from Abhay Singh Sekhon (111), the duo also clinched the team silver two points finishing after Czech Republic.

Prior to that, Manisha Keer managed to get the bronze medal in the junior women’s trap event. She did well in the qualification round to score the second best 113 points before he could only garner 28 in the final and was eventually overtaken by Giala Ragazzini and qualification topper Sofia Littame of Italy.

Apart from them, Kirti Gupta also made it to the final after winning the shoot-off for the sixth spot but could end up in the sixth position only. Apart from Preeti Rajak (103) as the third shooter, the Indian team also managed to win the silver medal finishing after Italy.

In the junior men’s trap event, Vishwa Kundu finished sixth while Manavaditya Rathore lost in the shoot off that would have taken him to the final. Vivaan Kapoor, on the hand, missed the final by just one point as the trio managed to finish behind Italy and Finland with a bronze medal.

In the junior women’s skeet final, Areeba Khan reached the final but finished sixth, but she managed to win the team silver alongside Parinaaz Dhaliwal (104) and Muffaddal Deesawala (100) finishing behind Italy.
