ISSF Junior World Cup | Sift Kaur Samra wins gold in women's 50m rifle event

Sift Kaur Samra of India won the solo women's 50m rifle 3 positions (3P) event on Monday, giving India a total of 10 gold medals at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2022 in Suhl, Germany. In the final, she defeated Julie Johannessen of Norway 17-9; Ashi Chouksey of India took bronze in the event as well.

India presently leads the medals table with a total of 25 medals (10 gold, 12 silver, and three bronze). The next-best team, Italy, has four gold medals and three bronze medals. However, the Indian men's 50m rifle 3 positions team took silver after losing 12-16 to Italy. Shivam Dabas, who earned an individual silver medal on Sunday, teamed up with Pankaj Mukheja and Avinash Yadav to take first place in qualifying with 1315 points.

After finishing second behind the Italians in the elimination round, the Indian team advanced to the gold medal match. Later, in the individual men's 25m rapid fire pistol, Anish and Vijayveer Sidhu won silver and bronze, respectively. Anish and Vijayveer qualified for the four-man medal round, but Yan Chesnel of France won gold with 32 hits in the final.

Despite a strong finish, Anish had to settle for silver with a score of 28. Vijayveer finished first with 18, followed by Markus Lehner of Germany in fourth place with ten.
