Indian men lost by an identical 0-2 score-line to hosts Thailand and Philippines on the opening day of the four-day International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF) World Superseries Finals 2015 in Nakhon Pathom province on Tuesday.

In a match between newcomers, Philippines beat India 21-17, 21-9 in 35 minutes after finding their rhythm early, while India struggled at the feeder, with Viseyie Koso eventually needing to be substituted.

Fancied Thailand cruised past the Indians 21-6, 21-8 in just 23 minutes in a lop-sided contest.

India are in Group A along with Philippines, Myanmar and the hosts. Group B comprises Malaysia, Japan, Singapore and Korea.

The women’s competition is a six-team affair consisting of Vietnam, Japan and Korea in Group A and Thailand, Malaysia and Myanmar in Group B.
