Asian Games 2018 | India claims three medals in sailing

With the achievements made at the Asian Games being held at Jakarta/Palembang, India added another three medals, acquired by the Indian sailing squad. Indian sailors have been successful in claiming two bronze medals and one silver medal in the sailing events conducted in the games.

Indian sailors Varsha Gautham and Sweta Shervegar bagged a silver medal in the 49er FX Women's event, producing a total score of 40 at the end of 15 matches at the Indonesia National Sailing Centre. Further Harshita Tomar finished third to claim a bronze in the Open Laser 4.7, with a total score of 62 after 12 races on Friday.

Adding to the medal count, Varun Thakkar Ashok and Chengappa Ganapathy Kelapanda went ahead to win a bronze medal in the 49er men's event. They produced a total score of 53 after 15 races to finish third in the quadrennial event.

Harshita Tomas was ecstatic with the achievement she made. She told that it was great to bring back a medal for the country and the whole event has been an incredible learning experience for her.

“It is a great feeling to win a medal for the country. I can't explain it. It has been a great learning experience for me,” said Harshita.
