Pranati Nayak bags bronze in vault final at Senior Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships

India's Pranati Nayak won the bronze medal in the vault at the Senior Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships on Friday in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. In the final, the Indian gymnast recorded a total of 13.384 points (Vault 1: 13.400, Vault 2: 13.367) as she narrowly missed out on a silver medal.

India’s Pranati Nayak won the bronze medal in vault at the Senior Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships on Friday in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. In the final, Nayak scored a total of 13.384 points (Vault 1: 13.400, Vault 2: 13.367), narrowly missing out on a silver medal in the final. 

China’s Yu Linmin and Japan’s Ayaka Sakaguchi made it to the podium with the gold and silver medals respectively. Earlier, the Indian gymnast had qualified for vault finals at the sixth place with a score of 13.35 on Thursday. The Indian women’s and men’s team finished in the eighth position in the team competition.

The Indian women’s team comprising Pranati Nayak (45.350), Pranati Das (43.000), Shraddha Talekar (42.850) and Papiya Das (36.350) had scored 131.250 in their qualifications-cum-team final competition on Thursday. The men’s team finished with 229.699 points in a team that consists of Rakesh Patra (76.133), Yogeshwar Singh (75.566), Arik Dey (75.100) and Debang Deb (73.167).

Earlier this month, Patra had qualified for the final round in the Parallel Bars event at the FIG World Challenge Cup in Koper, Slovenia. The Odisha gymnast made it to the final round after finishing eighth in the qualifying rounds of the global tournament with a score of 13.250.
