Joshna Chinappa went down to Kiwi wild card, Joelle King in the semifinals of the Carol Weymuller Open squash in New York. The Indian lost 4-11, 11-9, 4-11, 8-11 after making the last-four stage from the qualifiers.

The former world number four was returning from an Achilles injury that sidelined her for a while, but the Chennai girl clearly had not lost her sharpness. King, though, was clearly the better of the two on the day.

Accurate returns with early pickups kept Joshna away to the back. Although the Indian fought back with her aggression upfront to win the second game, King did not give up and went about her work in business-like fashion, giving little leeway to finish off the match 3-1.
