Cyrus Poncha named new Secretary-General of SRFI

Dronacharya awardee and former National Coach Cyrus Poncha has been appointed as the new Secretary-General of the Squash Rackets Federation of India. Mr Debendranath Sarangi was also reelected unopposed as President of the SRFI for a four-year term (2019-23).

Federation has decided to have a Director of Coaching and Jodhpur-based Dhiraj Singh will take this post and he will have a team of Coaches under him. Similarly Mr Srikanth Seshadri will be the Director of Referees, Olympian Munir Sait will be the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee as also the Affiliation Dispute Committee while Arjuna Awardee Bhuvneshwari Kumari will head the Athletes Commission and Mr S.L. Rajiv Reddy will chair the Appelate Authority Related RTI matters. Both the President and Secretary-General will be ex-officio members of the above said committees.

Mr N. Ramachandran will be the Patron of the SRFI. Other office bearers, all elected unopposed, are : Vice Presidents: M/s T.R. Narayanaswamy and K. Rajendiran; Joint Secretary: M/s S. Balasubramaniyan and Binod Kankaria; Treasurer: K. Harish Kumar; Executive Commitee: M/s V.K. Dabbas, Vinay Pandey, K.P. Balasubramaniam, Rajiv Reddy, A. Dayanand Kumar and Ms Bhuveshwari Kumari.

Mr Justice G.M. Akbar Ali (retd) was the returning officer while Mr J.M. Fernando, TNOA General Secretary was the IOA observer and Mr T.P. Mathiazhagan, SAI incharge was the Government observer at the elections.
