Bopanna-Mergea pair loses in Vienna Open first round

India’s Rohan Bopanna and his Romanian partner Florin Mergea went down to Julian Knowle of Austria and Daniel Nestor of Canada in the men’s doubles first round of the Vienna Open in the Austrian capital. The fourth-seeded Indo-Romanian were beaten 7-6 (5), 5-7, 10-4 by their wild card opponents in an hour and 41minutes.
The match boiled down to the super tie-break after the first two sets were shared. The experienced pair of Knowle and Nestor was on top in the super tie-break against their misfiring opponents who committed eight double faults in the match.
