Yesterday, the Indian pair of Rohan Bopanna and Purav Raja went down to Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil as Canada the singles match wrap-up. However, in the first set, one of Bopanna’s shots, from the baseline, left the Canadian pair perplexed and gave India a game point to level the set at 2-2.

Rohan Bopanna and Purav Raja were outclassed by the pair of 45-year-old Daniel Nestor (43) and Pospisil (111) in the Davis Cup Men's Doubles match. Experience clearly played the upper hand in the game as the Indian pair lost 7-5, 7-5, 5-7, 6-3, giving Canada a resounding 2-1 lead in the best-of-five tie. However, there was a shot in the first set, which helped the Indian pair win a point that caught the eye of the spectators.

The Bopanna-Raja pair were 2-1 down at that point in the first set but were leading the game 40-15. A deep shot from Bopanna saw Nestor scampering down his baseline but the experienced Canadian produced a brilliant backhand lob that was close to the baseline. The Indian ace, however, was quick on his toes and moved backward a great speed and hit an overhead winner while facing the other side. However, it seemed that Nestor and Pospisil didn’t see that shot coming as not only did they fail to return the ball but weren't even able to move as well.

The Indian Davis Cup team, who are eyeing a return to the World Group after a gap of six years, are playing against Canada for the first time in the Davis Cup in Edmonton but are trailing 1-2 in the tournament so far.
