Asian Wrestling Championships| India wrap up campaign with 16 medals

India wrapped up the continental campaign with as many as 16 medals with Harpreet Singh winning silver and Gyanender bronze on the last day. The list included one gold medal, three silver medals, and four bronze medals, clinched by men's freestyle wrestlers barring four bronze medals by women.

On the last day of the event, the Indian wrestling contingent saw one silver and one bronze bagged by Greco-Roman wrestlers Harpreet Singh and Gyanender respectively. Harpreet (82 Kg category) stormed into the gold medal round by thrashing Haitao Qian of China 10-1 in the semifinals.

Harpreet defeated Burgo Beishaliev of Kyrgyzstan beating 5- in his last-eight stage bout but couldnā€™t continue it in the gold medal round and had to bow out against Saeid Morad Abdvali of Iran 0-8.

Gyanender (60 Kg category) was impressive to beat Jui Chi Huang of Taipei and bag the third position. He had reached there by beating Ali Abed Alnaser Ali Abuseif of Jordan 9-1 in the quarterfinal, whichj was followed by a 0-9 defeat against Uzbekistanā€™s Islomjon Bakhramov in the semis.

Yogesh was beaten by Ruslan Tsarev of Kyrgyzstan in the third-fourth place bout in 72kg category. He had entered the bronze medal round despite losing his qualifying match to Hujun Zhang of China 0-9.

However, two other Indians in the fray on Sunday - Ravinder and Hardeep - crashed out early. While Ravinder bowed out in 67kg after losing his qualification bout, Hardeep suffered a loss in the 97kg quarterfinal bout.
