India’s Shivani Pawar settled for a silver medal in the women’s 50kg event at the ongoing U23 World Wrestling Championships, in Serbia, Belgrade, on Thursday. Meanwhile, Anju claimed a bronze medal in the 55kg event by virtue of technical superiority against Canada’s Virginie Kaze Gascon.

Indian wrestler Shivani Pawar qualified for the final of the women’s 50kg event at the 2021 U23 World Wrestling Championships, to secure the nation’s first medal in the event. Meanwhile, Anju will be featuring in the bronze medal match of the women’s 55kg event against Canada’s Virginie Kaze Gascon.

India’s Greco-Roman wrestlers will return with empty hands, with each of them eliminated before the medal bouts at the ongoing U23 World Wrestling Championships, in Belgrade, Serbia. Sunil Kumar and five other grapplers lost their respective bouts on Tuesday, to end India’s campaign at the meet.
