According to a TOI report, the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) has strongly recommended the name of Dejan Papic for the post of India’s next TT coach. The federation has shortlisted two other foreign coaches as well for the post and forwarded their names to the Sports Authority of India.

Canada’s Papic is having the best chance to be appointed as the next coach of the Indian table tennis contingent. As per TOI sources, three foreign coaches have been shortlisted out of which the Canadian is leading the race ahead of the other two. Germany’s Peter Gardos and Serbia’s Vladimir Meovic are the other two coaches whose names have been sent to SAI.

There are reports as per the newspaper that TTFI has strongly recommended Papic for the post and he also has got strong backing from Achanta Sharath Kamal and former foreign coach Massimo Costantini.

“When all three are demanding around $5,500, then why not go for Papic. We have informed SAI about our choice. We hope that Papic joins us ahead of the World championships in Budapest,” a TTFI official told TOI.

The report further stated that sources also told TOI that Papic’s name was proposed by Costantini and the federation has full faith in him. Well versed in English, 50-year-old Papic has demanded between $5,000-5,500 as his salary. Papic is working at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) as an education and training coordinator.
