MANAGER TALK: CARLO ANCELOTTI

Real Madrid's Carlo Ancelotti is the first manager to ever win four European Cups.

He told BT Sport: "I can't believe it. We had a fantastic season. We did really well. It was a difficult game and we suffered a lot, more so in the first half. In the end I think we deserved to win this competition.

"We're really happy. What can I say? I can't say more.

"I am a record man. I had luck to come here last year and have a fantastic season. A fantastic club, a really good squad with a lot of quality and mental character.

"The season was top.

"I think we passed through really difficult games. The supporters helped us a lot in the last game. They helped us tonight. We're happy and they're happy."

On Thibaut Courtois: "Wow. Unbelievable. I can't believe it."

PLAYER TALK: THIBAUT COURTOIS

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, speaking to BT Sport: "Yesterday in the press conference I said that when Madrid plays finals they win. I was on the good side of history.

"I saw a lot of tweets coming my way that I would get humbled today it was the other way round.

"Today I needed to win a final for my career, for all the hard work to put respect on my name as I don't think I get enough respect, especially in England. I saw a lot of criticism even after a great season.

"I am really proud of the team. We stuck to it and when I needed to be there I was there for the team. We beat some the best clubs of the world. City and Liverpool were unbelievable this season. They fought to the end in the Premier League, Liverpool won two cups and they were really strong.

"We played a great game today. We had one chance and scored it."

Jota's running wins his team a corner after a tough battle with Militao. The resulting corner is taken by Robertson but it doesn't even clear the first man for another corner.

The next one is better and Fabinho tries to nick it towards Salah but its cleared.  Jota wins a header at the back post and loops one back across goal. Salah looks to finish it imminently but Courtois does it well to close down the angle and make the save. He has been on fire tonight.

Another ball arrives into the box and Courtois takes charge to gather the ball from the air. Vinicius drives forward with the ball but loses it . He also tries to unsuccessfully wins it back as Mane lays it off to Salah. The Egyptian pulls Kroos back for a foul in order to reach the ball.

Carlo Ancelotti's side have been dominated for large parts in all three of their knockout matches against PSG, Chelsea and Manchester City. Chelsea, Manchester City and PSG aren't don't thrive playing with the backdrop of chaos and that's where Real Madrid took those matches at key points and flourished.

However, Ancelotti's team are bumping into the kings of chaos here. Liverpool want the game to become stretched and frantic, it's where their aggressive press takes control of matches.

There are two big decisions for Jurgen Klopp - whether to risk Thiago in midfieldover Fabinho and whether to go with the pace of Ibrahima Konate or the experience of Joel Matip at centre-back. If Thiago doesn’t make it, James Milner looks a good bet to take on Madrid’s midfield.
