And with that, Matchday 2 is finally over.

Bloody hell. Football, huh? That's basically all we've got to say after what was an utterly insane, chaotic and just downright sensational two days of Champions League football.

Back to the humdrum normality of league football now but that's not for a few days, so until then this is goodbye, goodnight and arrivederci.

RB Salzburg boss Matthias Jaissle: "I'm very very happy. You could see the quality LOSC Lille have in the opening phase when we were not on our game. After that, we battled well right through to the last minute, that was really cool."

 "Basically, nothing really changes for us. We're doing quite nicely by keeping our feet on the ground. Today was very emotional and also a relief for many of the players, who were able to celebrate a first Champions League win."

RB Salzburg's Karim Adeyemi: "We are very happy. We collected three points at home against a very strong opponent. Our young team didn’t want to hide, and that worked out, so we are really happy.

"Our clear target is to reach the next round. The next game now is Wolfsburg, of course we also want this game."

LOSC Lille boss Jocelyn Gourvennec: "It's very frustrating not to have more points. But as former LOSC coach Claude Puel used to say, 'We've not said our last word'. And I say the same thing to you."

"We got back into the match, and the game was quite unstable. They sat back and played on the counter-attack, we pushed in perhaps a disorganised way. They were close to the third, we were close to equalising."

"Against Wolfsburg, we also had chances that we didn't take. We have to improve our finishing. If we open the scoring when we have an opportunity, it would give us a boost. We know we have to improve, but we're working on it."

"We put things right at half-time to make sure we stayed focussed on the game. We couldn't let our frustration dominate. We didn't give up, we got back into it. The players really battled. There was no lack of determination."

Sevilla's Fernando: "A difficult match against a physically strong team. We didn't start the game well and when things don't go well for you and you start badly, it makes it harder. We wanted to play a better game. We didn’t play so well."

"We knew they had players who are physically strong and tall and it was a problem but we weren't so good with the ball. We should have circulated it better and we didn't do that. To be honest, we have to improve that aspect.

"In the second half we got a bit better. We tried to win the game but I don’t go home happy from here. We should do a lot more and if we want to get to the next round we have to win the next matches."

Benfica's Darwin Nunez: "It's a dream I've had forever. Playing against a great team like Barcelona and scoring a goal is a great satisfaction for me. I thank my colleagues for all the support they have given me since I arrived."

"It was our first Champions League game at home, it was difficult, but it will never be easy. But it won't be easy for anyone to face Benfica either. Let's defend this shirt with everything. It will be step by step."

Benfica boss Jorge Jesus: "Benfica are in good form, very confident. We knew we were going to face great opponents so we had to be at the level of Benfica's values. Tactically we also had to be very strong in the defensive process.

"We managed the the moments of the game; Barcelona had more possession as usual, but what was important for us is that the last pass didn't get through. Then we were very strong to break and we scored three goals."

"I knew that to beat Barcelona we had to score more than one goal. I was counting on conceding a goal, but the team did very well defensively. Vlachodimos didn't have a save to make except crosses."

Dynamo Kyiv boss Mircea Lucescu: "We tried to attack and had a few good chances but unfortunately we lacked the final pass. We were making wrong decisions, that's why we didn't score. When we pushed forward we were leaving free spaces behind us and the opponents used them very well. Sané's goal only highlighted the top level of Bayern players."

"I knew it would be a big mistake to play attacking football against Bayern because they can use spaces behind your defence very effectively with their individual skills and vertical passes. And they showed it in the second half when we came forward to score a goal. They scored three or four goals from our mistakes."

"The result reflects what was happening on the pitch. Before the game, I spoke of Bayern as number one favourites to win the Champions League and they proved it tonight."

Villarreal defender Pau Torres: "We're annoyed. The game was basically over, we just needed to see it out and we didn't. We need to learn from this. We were impeccable before that, taking the lead, creating chances, being better than Man Utd at Old Trafford.

"We held out until the final minute, we needed to know how to deal with this last minute better.

"Ronaldo is the kind of player who gets one chance and he takes it. That is what happened. We've shown we can be better than Atalanta and United over the two games.

"In the first-half we created a lot of chances and weren't good when it came to decision making. We need to improve and learn from that."

Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann:  "We are aware - and that includes each and every player - that we can and want to do better. Even after the fifth goal we wanted to score another."

 "I'm happy about about large spells. It's not always easy to keep the concentration up after an early goal. We scored some great goals and it's important that we kept the clean sheet."

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri: "Sailors always find the way out of a storm:. Tonight was a good game against the European champions. Technically we could have played better but we suffered a bit and we missed a couple of counterattacks. Two games, six points, zero goals conceded, another step towards qualification, a good step forward ."

Juventus' Federico Chiesa:  "It was a difficult match because Chelsea put us there, they were very good with ball and we were forced to defend. But tonight we showed the Juve spirit, which is what the coach wants from us."

"We started with a formation, then the coach tried to change tactics in order to attack the spaces where Chelsea suffered tonight, where we were good at punishing them."

On turning a corner: "It's a great challenge. It's great to play in this competition. Now we must enjoy the evening because we won, but we have the derby on Saturday, another very important match for us."

Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui: "It's the Champions League, it's very difficult and away from home against a German team with the potential of Wolfsburg it is tough. The team stood up throughout and manged to get a point.

"In the second half they got in front with the first chance they had and that made it a little more difficult to achieve our objective. We got close, with one against the post and a couple of clear chances at the end, and it was a shame we couldn't turn it around as we'd have deserved it."

"In the first half we did good things without there being too many chances. The few chances that there were were ours. We controlled quite well their attempts to get into our penalty area, apart from one moment.

"They barely got into the penalty area and the first they had was decisive."

On Marcos Acuna's injury: "It seems he has a twist in the ankle."

Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman: "It's tough to accept this result. I don't think the scoreline corresponds to the match we watched. Despite going behind quickly we played well until it went to 2-0. "

"I'm not going to argue about the level of my team. There's no point in comparing this with Barcelona teams of years gone by. That's as clear as water.  I can only give you my opinion of my work at the club - I feel backed by my players and their attitude."

On Benfica: "Benfica were strong physically and they're quick. I think that for the first and second goals we just had to defend much better. We had really good scoring chances and that's how you change the direction of a match.

"The fact that Benfica put away the large majority of the few chances they actually created then that's the big difference between the two teams tonight".

Bayern Munich's Leroy Sane: "We played pretty well. We were dominant, but also gave little away in defence. I didn't mean the goal, I wanted to cross the ball and was a bit lucky that my technique wasn't so good in the moment."

Bruno Fernandes speaks to BT Sport: “It is always difficult to play against Spanish teams. We know they play really well. They are good on the ball. We know the coach also. They always play good football, and are really well organised in defence. But we did a good job.

"Sometimes we had to be patient, but I think we did the right job. The main thing was to get the three points and we got it. I always felt we could win the game, and turn it around. The push from the fans was incredible.

"Some big saves from David de Gea to keep it 1-1, then at the end Cristiano does it once again! Modern football has changed a little, it is not like in the past where the big teams who spend more win every time, now small teams who do not spend a lot are well organised and do really well, so your focus always has to be at a high level.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer talks to BT Sport: “That’s what happens here at Old Trafford. Unfortunately we had to throw caution to the wind and we got lucky in the end. They are a very hard team to beat.

"They have not lost a game since way before the final, and they played some good teams before. It’s a difficult one, because we are at home and we want to win, but they play so well, but if we don’t go and press them, they’ll be happy enough to sit off.

"Sometimes it’s not about a pass there, a pass there, it’s the crowd, and when you have Cristiano on the pitch, there’s always a chance. Jesse was probably not happy, not playing more, but he comes on, makes an impact, and that’s what you do when you’re a sub at this club.

"Cristiano is so good in front of goal, and he has an impact on everyone. It’s massive for the players, to win games in this fashion, after we lost a game in Berne in that fashion. I’d rather have a win and a defeat than two draws!

"Atalanta are a good team, every game is hard at this level, that’s European football now. We’re onto the Everton game already.”

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel: "I think we started not sharp enough. The first 12 to 15 minutes we could have harmed them much more. There was so much space for dangerous balls into the box and ask more questions.

"We struggled to create our own rhythm and intensity because they were so deep and passive. We were lacking runs. We were so good in training yesterday and not good enough, not free enough today. I don't know why.

"I felt we were a bit slow and tired, mentally slow, decision making. That's why it's a strange one to analyse."

Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets: "It's difficult to explain where we are. Games are won in both penalty areas and we weren't decisive at either end. We conceded far too early but then we played well, created chances but we didn't score and if you let good opponents off the hook they'll take advantage of that."

"We had chances but I'm not too sure if we got any of them on target. Statistics only say so much - if we didn't put one on target that still doesn't mean we didn't create good opportunities."

"When we pushed up in the match Benfica broke and went one-on-one against our centre-halves. Two goals came that way."

Zenit St Petersburg head coach Sergei Semak: "We did plan bright starts to both halves and it worked. What I did not like is the way we played after scoring the first goal. Overall, it is a good result, we deserved it and we are now looking forward to adding more to it."

Malmo boss Jon Dahl: "Zenit are a very good side and it was hard for us. But we had a great first half, we should just have taken our chances. It became difficult after the red card."

Malmo's Eric Larsson: "It is a painful result for us. We did have some good spells in the game but it was not enough. Can last night's triumph by Sheriff in Madrid be extra motivation for us ahead of the games against Chelsea? Zenit St Petersburg's Daler Kuzyaev: "It was important to win after losing at Stamford Bridge and especially good to win after an eight-match streak without one in the Champions League. We deserved the result, although we could have played better, especially towards the end of the second half."

On his position: "That's true, I was asked to play in a more advanced role, closer to Dzyuba. But I won't tell you all the secrets of what else I was supposed to do. In any case, it worked – I scored and we won."

Young Boys' boss David Wagner:  "Against Atalanta you have to be always at 100%. The group is united, strong. We showed it in these two games, against difficult opponents."

Young Boys' Vincent Sierro: "Atalanta are really a strong side, it’s difficult to hold on to the ball as they press a lot."

Atalanta's Remo Freuler: "It was difficult against this side, we had to create chances in order to score."
