Another good news for India from Athletics. Hima Das has qualified for the semis in the women's 200m with a timing of 23.42s. 

Yes Manju Bala has qualified for the final in 11th spot. But safe to say, that can't expect much from her in the final.

And Manju Bala is in 11th spot at the end of her third attempt. She might just make it through to the final. 

So the last attempt of Sarita Singh is over and with a throw of little of 56m, she has no chance of making the final. 

And that is it. Sindhu has won her first round match 21-4, 21-9. 

Okay, and within typing this next post, Sindhu has raced to 18-9. Not even kidding, it just took less than two minutes for this to happen. 

Sindhu is just too strong for this girl. And India should win a gold here. But again this is the first round here. 

Meanwhile, Sindhu's match has started. She is playing against Abdul Razzak of Maldives. 

In the Second game the Indian leads 9-7.

Manju Bala has her first attempt too and she doesn't do any better.

She gets 59.68m in the first throw and is 11th in standings. POOR by the Indian girls.

It is a no throw by Sarita in the second, and she is virtually out of the competition.

So Sarita Singh starts with a poor first throw of 57.48m. She has two more left.

So 68m is the automatic qualification as the competition gets underway.

So in all fairness Manju Bala and Sarita Singh don't really have a chance to qualify as they have PBs of 64.88m and 65.25m, respectively.

They need to better those distances by at least five meters. 

So it is time for some hammer throw action

Also, badminton individual events start in an hour for now. India should be hoping for a couple of golds if not more. 

Apart from that we have women's hammer throw qualification where Sarita Singh and Manju Bala will be in action.

Also in women's 200m heat, Hima Das will be there, who has an outside chance to qualify for finals. 

SO it is a big day for Athletics today. After a historic bronze in high jump last night, India could have a gold in men's long jump, which will begin after mid-night.
