Full Time

The match ends 1-1 after a tiring match. However, it will go down as a tale of missed chances rather than the two taken. Andrija for Delhi missed a host of chances, which otherwise, could have the game beyond doubt.

Pune, on the other hand, had kept their defence vulnerable for most of the second half, in search of an equalizer. The match ends in a draw as Jamshedpur, Kerala, Bengaluru, and Goa round up the top four. 

Chance for Delhi!

From the throw on the left wing, Delhi get the ball to Changgte after some quick passes, He runs at the defender before laying it off Rene. The angle is tight and Pune deflect it away. However, Sarangi gets it this time and his shot from outide the box and the balls hits Mills' right hand and the hosts go up for a penalty shout. The referee kind, luckily for Pune. 

Andrija is subbed off as Sarango takes his place.

A much-needed move for Delhi after Andrija's terrible display today. The fact that Gompau has changed a striker with a midfielder says it all. 

The tempo has increased in the last few minutes. Three more minutes added and this is still anybody's game. Pune, though, look the more composed side.

Goal for Pune! Carlos!

Pune get the ball onto their left wing and manage to find Alfaro. He does well to beat a man and cuts it back for Carlos who takes a brilliant touch with his right before finishing things off with his left foot.

Chance for Delhi!

Changgte beats Mills and is through on goal from the left flank,  Andrija, who looked offside, blocks off a defender and is surprisingly not called a foul leaving. It leaves Changgte is clear one on one for goal but he misses it!

These misses will come back to haunt Delhi.

Six minutes left for the match! Can Pune level?

Delhi get a free kick and Narayan Das' ball is met by Gianni at the far post. However, the ball is well ahead of him as his outstretched right leg doesn't even push the ball to the side netting.

Pune on ascendency again as Stankovic gets the ball on the right and he crosses the ball in from the left towards Alfaro who gets a deft touch on the ball. Narayan Das, however, is happy to put it behind for a corner. Pune fail to capitalize from the corner.

Chance for Pune!

Confusion all around as Pune tries to cross the ball in. But, like most of their crosses today, it gets deflected away. Luckily, it falls for Vila who unleashes a rocket of a shot from just outside the box. However, Francesco gets his hands to it.

Adil Khan is subbed off as Rohit Kumar comes in. 

Andrija gets the ball in midfield and despite heavy pressure manages to play though Romeo on the right flank. Kaith is alive to the danger and comes out to make a tackle. Pune are happy to clear the lines and lucky to be just one down. 

This is the first time Romeo with the ball. He skips past Gurtej on the right flank before cutting it back for Andrija. However, Mills clears it just at the right time.  Can't blame the striker for this as the ball lacked the required pace.

Rana outmuscles Alfaro before giving the ball to Stankovic on the right flank. He tries to find Vila up top but the ball looked overhit as the ball goes out for a goalkick.

Pune tries to play quick passing in their defensive third but Tamang fails to keep the ball inside as it goes out for a throw. Frustrating night for Pune as nothing has gone their way.

Gurtej comes in for Martin Diaz and Diego Carlos comes in for Jakob.

The like for like changes by Pune is surprising here. They need to push more up top.

MISS FOR DELHI!

Gianni finds a delicious ball to Kotal up the right flank whose run is totally unmarked by Delhi. He cuts it back to Andrija who has an open goal to aim with the keeper clearly offguard. However, he loses his footing right at that moment.

Offside for Delhi!

Delhi's passing play finds Rene in an open position as he playmaker puts the ball through to Andrija, who is one on one with the goalkeeper. But, he is flagged offside.

Similar chances for both the sides.

Jakob wins the ball high up the field but after getting into a cross position could only find the goalie. Almost immediately, Delhi counter and Changgte is released on the left wing. The youngster's cross though is deflected off Mills, which makes it an easy take for Kaith.

Delhi struggle to clear the ball away as they put the ball past the halfway line. It comes right at them but luckily for the hosts, the Pune is flagged offside. Delhi breathe a sigh of relief.

After some good passing play in the midfield, Pune find Ashique on the left wing. However, his cross is deflected away to Jakob who tries to lay it off for Adil. But, his tame shot goes wide.  

Tebar passes it sideways to Rana from the freekick but the defender's attempt to find someone in the attacking third is terrible as Delhi Pune get to it quickly.

Adil tries to give the ball to Stankovic on the right flank. But, Narayan is in the right place as he puts it out for a throw. Delhi are not giving any breathing space for Pune, who have to find an equalizer and fast.

Delhi's long goal kick is dealt by Mills as he gets to it. However, the balls to Delhi again, who keeps passing the ball with small touches. However, the resulting cross is right into the hands of the keeper.

After his wondergoal, Rana comes up with a bone-headed play as he hits Jakob in the back to concede a freekick in a dangerous area for Delhi. He doesn't get a booking. Pune, however, are caught offside from the resulting freekick.

Diaz takes a freekick from the halfway line and plays a qucik a one-two and launches it forward. The ball is deflected into the path of Alfaro but he cannot get enough contact to get the ball. 

Rene tries to go for the nearpost from the corner but the ball goes wide. Good thinking by the No. 10 but he needs to be more clinical than that the execute such a move.

Delhi half clears the ball from the corner. Nandkumar wins the ball on the left and crosses it for Changgte. However, the youngster loses the ball by an onrushing Jakob who puts it out for a corner.

Andrija gets the ball from the deep field as Tebar's floating effort finds him beautifully. But, the striker messes it up as Pune puts it out fo a corner.

Second Half

Pune start with back pass and quickly change flanks up to Ashqiue. But, Delhi head it back to Pune's half. 

Half Time Two minutes of added time have just flown by!

The goal was completely against the run of play and Pune are suddenly under pressure. Delhi try to keep the ball in opponent's half as the referee blows his whistle. Portugal wouldn't have much to say about his team as they looked the better side in movements by a mile.

Goal for Delhi! An easy contender for goal of the season 

This is out of nowhere! No one expected Rana to have to such an audacious from 40 yards out! What a screamer of a goal!

However, taking nothing way from his this perfect technique by Rana, Kaith was well out of his line.

A horror header the Pritam Kotal who mistimes it completely as Ashique gets the long diagonal on his chest. However, Delhi crowd the defence as the ball is eventually pushed ball. Pune try to put the ball up but it goes out for throw.

Pune start from the back as the ball is played to Fanai on the left flank. He finds Ashique up the field who tries to round Kotal as he cuts in. However, Kotal is up to the task as the ball goes out for a corner.

The match has mostly bombed down at the midfield so far, with the players combating more. However, Pune have been the more creative one despite Delhi have the best chance of the game.

Stankovic takes a freekick, which looked perfectly weighed for Alfaro. He was very close to head it in but the striker pulls out at the last moment as the goalie comes out late, Alfaro was offside anyway.  

Match resumes and Pune keep the ball. Ashqiue is played a long ball but Delhi heads it away. However, he battles it out for possession but the ball goes out for a throw. Ashique has been negated so far in the game who looked like the main source for Alfaro. 

Vinit replaces Bikramjeet, who is been taken on stretcher. Delhi forced to an early change. They need to change their tactics.

We are past the 30 minutes of the match and the game has been maddening. Both the sides have struggled at the back with attack being the only mode.

Bikramjeet is seen fallen near the centre as the reckless manner of the player seems to have taken its toll. 

Nandkumar gets the ball on the left flank as he comes inside and tries to lay it off for Bikramjeet. Kaith, however, is alert to the danger and rushes out to the collect it.

Gianni hardly looks like a centre-half as he runs won the field and takes a shot at goal. The shot, however, is a testament to why he is registered as a defender.  

Gianni wins the ball in the midfield, skips past Adil and finds Tebar who gives it to Andrija on the right wing. The Delhi forward returns the favour with an accurate cross into the box but Gianni's header is deflected wide by the Pune defence.

Stankovic tries to release Jakob down the right wing, however, the latter had stopped his run. What a waste! 

The ball goes out for throw but Delhi's new manager decides to put it away triggering a slight altercation with a player. The referee has to come to separate the players. 

Delhi start with slow passes as Dorronsoro pass to his centre-half between two Pune forwards. Gianni keeps his composure to put it up although it ends in Pune's feet.

Going down on the counter, Pune come with Alfaro's attempted shot being out behind by Gianni. From the corner, Dorronsoro has another nervy  moment as he punches the ball straight at a Pune player but Delhi manage to clear away the danger,

Changgte is released on the left wing and his cut back is paried behind by Mills. But, again Delhi fail to convert from a set-piece, which was their biggest strength last season. 

Chance for Delhi

Tamang gets outmuscled by Changgte before he plays a perfect ball for Andrija. He gets nutmegged five yards from goal but luckily for Delhi the ball falls kindly for Nandha... He tries to curl it at the far post with his left foot, but the ball goes whisker away from the top bar.

Delhi is playing a high back line and are caught behind frequently. After a nifty play in midfield, Vila releases Alfaro on the right wing as Delhi chase back again. But, his overhits his cross and it is put behind by Kotal for a corner. 

Save by Kaith

Delhi's Narayan Das goes past Jakob and unleashes a rocket shot at the near post. Kaith is up to the mark this time as he puts it behind for a corner.

Nandha brings down Fanai in Pune's defensive third. Pune takes the free kick but Delhi head it out easily. On the counter, Chhangtu puts in a cross at the far post where Nanda gets it before putting in a left footed cross. Kaith makes a mess of it but the ball is out for a goalkick. 

It's all Pune now! Ashique skips past Pritam Kotal on the left flank and puts in a delicious ball for Alfaro, who can't get the all- important touch, Delhi look under severe pressue. 

Adil wins a 50-50 in the midfield well and releases Ashique on the flank again, but his left-footed cross is overhit. Delhi are quick on the counter, who goes on the other side, and Andrija's shot cum cross is easily held by Kaith. 

Half chance for Pune. Alfaro gets the ball in the midfield, and he switches it to Ashique on the flanks. The winger plays through to Adil but the midfielder fails to control the ball.

Pune haven't looked quite controlling of the game, which was their USP last season take a throw but they are looking to get through key passes. Giani gives away a ball in a crucial position, He, however, makes for it by intercepting Pune's through ball. 

Pune do a horrible mix-up in the defensive third and Andrija is released quickly on the right flank. Delhi players chase back in the centre but his cross is over everyone going out for a throw.

The tempo of the game has been relatively slow with both the sides building slowly. Pune pull string quickly as through ball to  Ashique puts in for Alfaro who couldnt reach it as the ball goes across the keeper to another Delhi defender. 

Jacob is brought down by Delhi's Narayan Das. Pune takes a quick shot that looked dangerous for a moment as the keeper puts it behind. However, it won't matter as the referee asks them to retake.

Kick Off

Delhi will get us going from the centre and they give the ball away almost instantly. Pune go forward but Alfaro it away cheaply. Exciting start. 

We are seconds away from the last match of the first match-week of ISL five.

FC Pune City will travel to Delhi with their previous manager at the helm in what could be an interesting matchup as both the sides will have a lot to prove. Delhi approach ISL five with numerous changes yet again hoping things to work this time out while Pune seem to have things figured out.

Last season’s semi-finalists FC Pune City will look to start their ISL campaign on a winning note after giving their fans an entertaining ride last season. And they should be expecting a positive outcome as they travel to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi to face a side that has a horrible record in ISL.

 The limelight will, however, be hogged by Miguel Portugal, who has changed camps from Delhi to Pune and left the capital in unceremonious circumstances blaming the management’s policies.
