P V Sindhu falters at Copenhagen Masters badminton
World No. 12 P V Sindhu lost to Line Kjærsfeldt of Denmark in straight sets 12-21, 19-21 at the Copenhagen Masters invitational tournament at the Falkoner salen, Denmark on Sunday.
Sindhu got off to a sloppy start as she trailed 5-11 at the interval of the first game. Line seemed to be in complete control as she extended her lead to 16-8 and soon raced to her first game point at 20-12. The Denmark player sealed the game at the first opportunity and took a 1-0 advantage in the match.
In the second game, Sindhu played much better as she took an early lead of four points at 6-2. The World No. 29 fought back to equalize at 7-7, but could not capitalize on it. Sindhu went on the take the lead at 11-9, and maintained it till 14-11, but faltered mid-way as Line clawed her way back to make it 16-14. The game headed for a crucial ending as Sindhu took the lead again at 19-17, but could not continue her streak and eventually lost the game 19-21.
This was the only match conducted in women's single and P V Sindhu can be said to have finished as the runner-up at the tournament.
