What a Championship we have on now. Two Indians, Sindhu and Saina, in two different semi finals and two Chinese stars, Lin Dan and Chen Long, on the men's side. If everything goes according to plan tomorrow, Sunday will be a great day.

Saina will face Okuhara in the semi final today after the Japanese beat Marin in three sets.

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY INDIA WILL HAVE TWO MEDALS IN THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. 

SAINA HAS DONE!!!

Brilliant performance in the final game by the Indian. She never gave the young Scot a whiff in the decider. 

She saves another one. This is getting interesting. But how long can she keep it up?

Gilmour saves one after showing some exceptional defensive abilities. 

A brilliant push into the forehand corner cannot be returned by Gilmour as Saina brings up her first match point.

A cross court smash and a unforced error by Saina gives Gilmour a glimmer of hope. But two poor shots restore the seven point lead for the Indan.

Saina misses an easy chance to win the point but Gilmour makes no mistake when afforded the chance. However, in an attempt to finish points off early, Gilmour fails to clear the net with a smash as the seven point advantage is maintained.

Saina looks like she might have suffered a bit of cramp as Gilmour take a point off a smash but the Indian fights back taking the next two points. 

Both players come up with good finishes to take a point apiece before Saina shifted gears again to increase her lead to six points.

Gilmour takes the first point after sides are changed with a cross court smash after some good play at the net before Saina fails to pick up body push to reduce the deficit to four.

Saina misses a down the line smash to keep the deficit at 5 before an unforced error ensures she heads into the break with a lead for the first time in the match.

Saina picks up two quick points - the first with push right at Gilmour and the second a forced error at the net. 

Saina beats Gilmour at her own power game but the Scot responds by taking a point of the Indian at the net. 

Errors beginning to creep into Gilmour's game as she finds herself in the unchartered territory but the youngster is not shying away from playing her natural attacking game.

A slip by Saina at the net allows Gilmour to take an easy point after the Indian had forced an error on the Scot's backhand

An unforced error puts Saina 5-0 up but a cross court winner gets the Scot her first point of the game.

Saina is on fire now. She realizes that giving the Scot an inch can be dangerous and takes a quick four point lead.

IT'S ALL LEVEL AGAIN!!! A body smash by Gilmour is too hot for the Indian to handle and the crowd goes absolutely berserk. It all comes down to just one game now. This is the first game that Saina has dropped in the tournament. It will be interesting to see how she recovers now.

Gilmour brings up a game point with, yet another, cross court smash, but Saina picks up with points - one with a typical drop shot and the other by forcing an error.

An uncharacteristic mistake by Saina puts Gilmour two points away from leveling the match, but the Indian shows off her monster defence and reduced the deficit to just three points.

Saina tries to launch yet another comeback by forcing a couple of unforced errors but a Gilmour smash down the line ensures the Scot keeps a five point lead.

Saina fights back with a couple of points but misjudgement on a drive hands Gilmour the initiative again. She makes Saina pay with two cross court winners to take a commanding lead in the second game.

Another smash down the line earns Gilmour the first point following the interval and some sloppy play at the net by Saina hands the Scot a four point lead.

Both players split a point but it means that Saina goes into the break yet again trailing.

Two quick points by Gilmour is followed by a point by Saina. However, the another point for the local girl is followed by an animated celebration by the Scot.

Gilmour takes the lead with her go to smash down the line but the drive again proves to her undoing as the scores are leveled again.

Saina needs a break here and gets it as Gilmour's drive is long and with a perfect drop, the Indian is back on terms.

This is a proper game. It's now Gilmour's turn to pile on the pressure as she takes three points to take the lead again.

Saina takes the lead again but Gilmour fights back with an inside-out smash and a body push to take the lead. However, Saina is not ready to give an inch and retakes the lead with a couple of quick points.

A misjudgment by Saina hands Gilmour the first point but the latter comes up with a service error to level the score.

Saina to start off the second game. Here we go!!

GAME 1 - SAINA NEHWAL!!!

Excellent composure by the 27-year-old. She forces errors from her younger opponent to take the first game 21-19. 

Saina puts the pressure on taking three quick points - the last of which forces the Scot to take a review just to catch her breath.

WHAT AN EMPHATIC SMASH!!! Gilmour forces Saina back with a brilliant long drive before producing a smash at the net.

Saina now fighting her way back into the game as she forces two back to back errors from the Scot, one going out while the other failing to cross the net, to make it a one point game.

Saina is not ready to give up just yet and forces an error from her younger counterpart but Gilmour is holding her own ground. 

A slip by Gilmour, caused by a Saina drop shot, reduced to deficit to just 2 but the Indian makes an unnecessary unforced error to keep the difference at three.

Saina has just lost her way here. Three more points go Gilmour's way but Saina wrong foots her opponent for a much-needed winner before two smashes earn the Indian two much-needed points.

What a comeback by the youngster. She has now won five points in a row. Two of the last three points have come from smashes on both sides of the Indian. The local girl is looking quite menacing now.

Gilmour is now coming into her own. After Saina misjudged a long drive, Gilmour takes a point off a smash before outplaying the Indian at the net. Scores level.

The Scottish youngster is trying to go for her shots now. But as the inside out one wrong foots Saina, the down the line smash cannot cross the net as the deficit is reduced to two.

Saina has started well here. Not only is her net play as good as it has over been, she looks very comfortable from the back court as well. Gilmour is trying to match up with the Indian on the net. Big mistake as the Indian takes a three point lead.

A series of unforced errors from the local star hands the Indian the lead. Both players have the same playing style which makes this game a very interesting contest.

Saina judges a Gilmour long drive perfectly to take the first point of the game but the Scot comes back with a body smash to level things up.

Saina has not dropped a single game en-route to the quarter finals and finally looks to have put her injury worries behind her. 

Saina Nehwal is up next. A win for Saina would make this tournament the most successful one in the history of World Championships for India after Sindhu booked a place in the semi final earlier today.

The Adcoks' have booked a place in the semi final of the Mixed Double's event with a 16-21, 21-13, 21-16 win over Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet.

Carolina Marin fights back from being 17-7 down against Nozomi Okuhara but it is the latter who takes the first game 21-18.

Takeshi Kamura and Keigo Sonoda are also through to the last four after an easy win against Mads Conrad-Peterson and Mads Pieler Kolding. Carolina Marin is now on court, playing against Nozomi Okuhara, and a win for the latter would make it an excellent day for the Japan team who have already seen four players secure a place in the last four of various events.

Just as Lin Dan did earlier today, Chen Long has booked his place in the semi-final after a comfortable 21-12, 21-17 win against Tian Houwei. A Lin Dan-Chen Long final on the cards?

The matches have resumed after the break with Chen Long leading Tian Houwei 18-10 while the Japanese team of Takeshi Kamura and Keigo Sonoda have won the first game 21-13 against Mads Conrad-Peterson and Mads Pieler Kolding.

Favorites Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi survive a scare and are able to make it into the semi finals winning 21-13, 25-27, 21-19.

In the second Women's doubles quarter final, Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan secured an easy win against Jung Kyung Eun and Shin Seung Chan in straight sets of 21-17, 21-14.

Top seeds Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi have blown a 13 point lead and FIVE match points against Bao Yixin and Yu Xiaohan as the latter leveled the match on their first game point attempt. We go into a deciding set with the scoreboard reading 21-13, 25-27.

On the other court, Tontowi Ahmed and Liliyana Natsir have booked their place in the semi-finals with a straight sets victory over Wang Yilyu and Huang Dongping in the Men's doubles event.

Sindhu will now face Chen Yufei in the semi-final tomorrow. If she can produce a similar performance tomorrow, there is no reason why she can't better her two bronze medals at the World Championships.

AND ITS ALL OVER. WHAT A PERFORMANCE BY PV SINDHU. IF THERE WERE ANY DOUBTS AFTER HER PERFORMANCE YESTERDAY. NOT ONLY HAVE THEY BEEN ANSWERED BUT HOW...

Sindhu is just picking off Yu now. This is too easy. The Chinese star appears to have made her peace with a loss today. Two points required for a semi-final shot for Sindhu.

WHAT A MISS...Yu gets a shuttle a few feet from the net but her smash misses the doubles outline. She looks done for the day.

A well hit body smash earns Yu a point but Sindhu returns the favout on the very next point to maintain her commanding lead.

Yu wins the first two points after the break with back to back drop shots but she will have to do this on regular occasions if she wants to stay in the Championship.

Sindhu finds herself under the cosh for a majority of the rally, but her exceptional defence keeps the point alive. Yu eventually throws the point away with a terrible unforced error. The Chinese star follows it up with an attempted drop but its wide again.

Yu finally outplays the Indian in a rally for the first time to increase her score to 2 but loses the next to points, and her challenge, in a span of a minute. 

After losing a point, Sindhu hits back with a couple of quick points with the latter being lazy. Unforced error by Yu. The Chinese star appears to be struggling to find any sort of momentum.

AND IT'S 4-0 now. This is one of the best games Sindhu has played all year. Yu has tried everything in this game but the Indian is in the zone right now. Unstoppable.

Some monster defence by both players means that the rally lasts 38 shots but its Sindhu who comes out on top with a powerful body smash. 

Even though she has the early lead, it is highly unlikely that Sindhu will take her foot off the pedal here.

What a dominant display by the 22-year-old and the Indian wins the game with yet another PERFECT drop. 

Sindhu misjudges the length of Yu's drive and the deficit is now six. But a well-placed shot by the Indian set up a winner that brings up the first game point of the game for Sindhu.

ANOTHER DROP SHOT....What a performance this has been by the Indian so far. Argubally her best performance since 2016. 

Yu reduces the deficit to six, but Sindhu responds with two quick points to keep well clear of any danger of a spectacular comeback.

Sindhu has just taken her foot off the pedal here and Yu is trying to get back into the game winning four of the last five points.

FINALLY Yu has a point to her name. But a simple shot down the line is straight into the net before yet another misjudgement hands Sindhu a TEN point lead.

This is total carnage. Yu has no response to the power and skill that Sindhu possesses in abundance. 

What a terrible call by YU. The Chineese star opts for a challenege but the shuttle drops on the inside of the line. The duo take a break with Sindhu maintaining a seven point lead. Great start for the Indian.

WOW!!! WHAT A RALLY! The 39-point rally had almost everything. Drop shots. Long drives. Exceptional net play. But Sindhu just tires here opponent out and finishes off with another drop shot. SIX-point lead now for the Indian.

Misjudgement costs Sindhu a point but Yu returns the favour with an unforced error of her own. Both players stuggling to win two points in a row. But with two well played drop shots Sindhu extends her lead to 7-4

An unforced error apiece keeps Sindhu's two point lead intact as both players hit their respective drives long.

Sensational play by the Indian again. This time she wrong foots Yu and goes cross court. However, with an unforced error concedes her first point of the day.

Its Sindhu who draws first blood with a brilliant drop shot before a smash down the line doubles here lead. 2-0 Sindhu.

Sindhu to serve first.

The wait is over. Here comes Sindhu hoping to add to her tally of two bronze medals at the World Championships. Even though she hasn't shown her best at the Championshiops so far but the Indian has always saved her best for the latter stages of tournaments.

Axelen wins the final game 21-16 and will now face the winner of the Chen Long-Tian Houwei match which is schduled for later in the day. 

Riding on Chen's unforced errors, Axelsen has taken a 12-9 lead in the decider and now looks favorite to book a place in the semis.

Danish star Viktor Axelsen has lost the second game to Taipei World No. 4 Chou Tien Chen 22-20 after winning the first game 21-18. The match enters the decider now. Remember, Axelsen has an unbeaten 2-0 record over Tien Chen. Can he win this one, too?

Five-time World Champion, Lin Dan, is also through to the semi final with a comfortable 21-17, 21-18 win over Wong Wing Ki. Can this be the year he does it yet again? Apart from Chen Long, the legendary Chinese star won't be too worried about anyone else.

Ninth-seed Chen Yufei saw off the challenge of eighth-seed Ratchanok Intanon in the quarters to book a place in the semi finals where she will face the winner of PV Sindhu and Sun Yu match, which is scheduled for later today. Yufei came back from a set down to beat her Thai opponent 14-21, 21-16, 21-12.

In the second match of the day, a mixed doubles contest, between the Hong Kong pairing of Reginald Lee Chun Hei-Chau Hoi Wah and China's Lu Kai and Huang Yaqiong, has seen the former come out on top in 73 minutes with the scoreboard reading 21-13,17-21,21-15 in their favour.

After falling apart in the first game from trailing 13-12 to losing the game 21-14, Srikanth Kidambi showed why he won two back-to-back Superseries titles in the build up to the Championships. 

Trailing 16-5 in the second game, Srikanth won an incredible seven points in a row to put Son Wan-Ho under pressure. Over the next nine points, the Indian found himself a point away from bringing the score to within one point at 19-18. However, it proved to be a step too far as the Korean secured the last two points he needed and booked himself a place in the last round.
