Sindhu will now face Chen Yufei in the semi-final tomorrow. If she can produce a similar performance tomorrow, there is no reason why she can't better her two bronze medals at the World Championships.

In the second match of the day, a mixed doubles contest, between the Hong Kong pairing of Reginald Lee Chun Hei-Chau Hoi Wah and China's Lu Kai and Huang Yaqiong, has seen the former come out on top in 73 minutes with the scoreboard reading 21-13,17-21,21-15 in their favour.

Srikanth Kidambi out of World Championships

After falling apart in the first game from trailing 13-12 to losing the game 21-14, Srikanth Kidambi showed why he won two back-to-back Superseries titles in the build up to the Championships. 

Trailing 16-5 in the second game, Srikanth won an incredible seven points in a row to put Son Wan-Ho under pressure. Over the next nine points, the Indian found himself a point away from bringing the score to within one point at 19-18. However, it proved to be a step too far as the Korean secured the last two points he needed and booked himself a place in the last round.
